Light amplification in a disordered Raman medium

The amplification of a probe beam by stimulated Raman scattering in a disordered medium is experimentally investigated. The measurements are performed in Ba(NO 3) 2 powders with 532-nm pumping and a 563-nm Raman generated probe. The results fit well with Monte Carlo simulations of the experiment.
