Zusammenfassung: | Tests were conducted on a nominal 10 t/h brewery grist mill and a laboratory pilot grist mill to determine the effects of malt feed rate, mill rotation rate, and water temperature on operational performance. Further tests were conducted with other cereal grains as well. The malt output of the wet grist mill could be increased by 30% by optimizing mill rotation rate. Water temperature in the range 50-75 deg C did not affect the change in mill output, however, the milled meal size was smallest and the percentage of decomposable extract was highest at a water temperature of 50 deg C. |
