Formation of layered Ag nanocrystallites in glasses via solid state diffusion process

The preparation of metallic Ag nanocrystallites in soda lime glass and Zn crown glass containing supersaturated solid CdO and S solution is reported. The formation of Ag layered particles and a broad red-shift in the Ag plasmon resonance due to the hybrid structure are observed. 22 refs.
