Repair Welding of Chemical Plant Equipments

In past, there were some examples that inadequate repair welding work induced accident. Repair welding is classified into repairing of welded defects occurred during fabrication and repairing cracks and damaged regions by corrosion during service. A paper explains purpose, kinds, and flow chart of investigation of repair welding. Repair welding processes such as pretreatment, selection of welding materials, preheat, inter-pass temperature, welding heat input, post heat treatment, etc. are outlined. Precautions to be taken in repair welding for various damages are explained. (Sample material: SUS316.)
