Analysis of the association of clinical, surgical and genetic factors with aneurysm sac remodeling after endovascular repair

•Aneurysmal sac regression has been shown to be positively related to age over 75 years, peripheral arterial disease (PAD), smaller diameter aneurysm and lower expression of type 1 metalloproteinase.•Endoleaks (EL) is positively related with Warfarin use, unfavorable anatomy and polymorphism of the...

Zusammenfassung:•Aneurysmal sac regression has been shown to be positively related to age over 75 years, peripheral arterial disease (PAD), smaller diameter aneurysm and lower expression of type 1 metalloproteinase.•Endoleaks (EL) is positively related with Warfarin use, unfavorable anatomy and polymorphism of the MMP-9 rs17577 gene, for high flux ELs, and with tissue metalloproteinase inhibitor (TIMP) type 1 rs4898 with absent T allele, for low flux ELs.•Dyslipidemia and coronary artery disease are more prevalent in the elderly who are positively related to aneurysmal disease and aneurysmal sac factors.•The endoprosthesis model used in the procedure affects the regression of the aneurysmal sac.
