A phase field study for ferrite–austenite transitions under para-equilibrium

Zusammenfassung: | With the ability to simulate pattern formation during solidification, a phase field model has proven to describe interface kinetics for substitutional binary alloys. Thus, the model seems a right tool that may be applicable to a case study between a normal equilibrium and a para-equilibrium limit. To analyze a para-equilibrium state, however, the model should be able to treat ternary or higher-order alloys, and further able to distinguish interstitial elements from substitutional elements as they have a huge difference in mobility and in diffusion mechanism. This work presents a phase field study on alpha - gamma para-equilibrium transitions occurring in a Fe-Mn-C system. |
