Wear resistance of binary chromium alloys with Ti, Zr, Hf, Nb, and Ta

Zusammenfassung: | The sliding wear resistance was determined for chromium alloys with titanium, zirconium, hafnium, niobium, or tantalum. Those additives increased the wear resistance when present up to their maximum contents, which were 19% forTi and 30-35% for the others (eutectic compositions). Comparative analysis of the data and the phase diagrams showed that the alloying had a larger effect in the one-phase regions of chromium-based solid solutions than for two-phase alloys containing Laves phases. In regard to improving the wear resistance of two-phase alloys the metal rank in the order Ti, Nb, Ta, Hf, and Zr. |
