Synthesis and mechanical properties of ZrO2/Al2O3 composites prepared by spark plasma sintering

ZrO2/Al2O3 composites are presently consolidated via the spark plasma sintering process, using zirconia and alumina powders obtained from acqueous chloride precursors. Attention is given to the mechanical properties of the composites, which exhibit high strength and toughness. (AIAA)
