Formation of γ-Al2O3 in reaction coatings produced with lasers

The influence of the cooling rate on the amount of gamma-Al2O3 formed in the coating during the laser process was investigated. Changing the laser processing parameters is found to vary the cooling rate. The presence of gamma-Al2O3 relative to alpha-Al2O3 was examined with X-ray diffraction. (CSA)
