On the Grain Boundary Character Distributions and Grain Boundary Network Topology (Grain Boundary Statistics in Materials Susceptible to Annealing Twinning, Revisited)

Zusammenfassung: | If there is indeed such a great variety of experimental grain boundary character distributions (GBCDs) as reported recently, then simplified considerations of the GB network as consisting entirely of triple junctions are not applicable to the materials prone to annealing twinning. For example, two-dimensional microstructures cannot be reduced to a honeycomb structure and three-dimensional polycrystals cannot be represented by the packing of Kelvin's tetrakaidecahedra. Materials include Ni, Alloy 600, Alloy 800, Alloy 825, Alloy 8925, Ni-18Cr-18Fe, Nichrome, AISI 304, AISI 306, AISI 316L, and three other austenitic stainless steels. |
