Analysis and extraction of emissivity information from airborne thermal infrared multispectral scanner (ATIMS) data

The ratio-weighted method for extracting emissivity information is described. The study shows that the limestone spectra in the study area are dominated by the CO3 bending vibration reststrahlen band near 11.3 microns (in CH6); the spectrum of quartz sandstone has low emissivity at 8.6-9.0 microns (...

Zusammenfassung:The ratio-weighted method for extracting emissivity information is described. The study shows that the limestone spectra in the study area are dominated by the CO3 bending vibration reststrahlen band near 11.3 microns (in CH6); the spectrum of quartz sandstone has low emissivity at 8.6-9.0 microns (CH2) and 9.8-10.6 microns (CH5), while the greywacke has low relative emissivity at 9.8-10.6 microns (CH5) and 10.6-11.4 microns (CH6) due to the silicate mineral and some content of carbonate mineral. The results indicate that the ratio-weighted method can be used for extracting emissivity information of ground objects from the airborne TIMS data. (Author)
