Zusammenfassung:This research develops an analytical stress model for a composite prosthetic intervertebral disc (PID) composed of an elastomeric core placed inside a braided flexible composite sleeve. The model is used to investigate the effects of interference between the core and sleeve on the axial compression behavior of the prosthesis. The model closely replicates the PID's compressive stress‐strain curve. The model combines textile crimp analysis and a newly proposed rubber elasticity constitutive relation. The stress model can be used to optimize the compressive behavior of a PID having a textile composite reinforcing phase.
