Zusammenfassung:Aluminium-barium oxide precursor gels, with or without chromium(III) were used to bind refractory grain mixes and give strong refractory components. The temperature required to obtain good grain bonding was reduced when chromium(III) was added. A precursor gel which converts to barium monoaluminate or the resulting barium monoaluminate sinter can be the basis of a gel precursor composition to be used as a cement or as a grouting material. 7 refs.
