Zusammenfassung: | Polymerization of acrylonitrile (PAN) in a capacitively coupled glow discharge under magnetic enhancement was studied. The design aspects of a magnetron electrode and its characteristics are described. The study suggests that an improved magnetron design helps in achieving a higher monomer conversion ratio that improves the quality of films and allows the use of lower system pressure. Thin, uniform, pinhole free films of PAN having very high molecular weight were formed. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. |
