Zusammenfassung:The high effective isotropic radiated power (EIRP) from the Magellan spacecraft renders it an ideal transmitter for for radio occultation measurements of the Venus atmosphere's refractivity and absorptivity. A spacecraft tracking maneuver was designed to maintain the Magellan antenna pointing in the direction of the refracted ray path back to Earth; this, together with the high EIRP of the Magellan transmitter has yielded 3.6 cm refractivity and absorptivity profiles.
