Oil content and fatty acid composition of seeds of \+i\Guizotia\-i\ Cass (Compositae)

The oil content and fatty acid composition of \+i\G. abyssinica\-i\, commonly known as niger, and of its wild relatives, were investigated. The high linolenic acid content makes the oil nutritionally valuable. Such information is important for niger breeding and for defining related wild materials that could have potential for possible future domestication and safe use for human consumption.
