Designing PCMCIA modems using solid state relays

Manufacturers of data communications equipment are increasingly demanding relay that are smaller, cost-effective, have low power consumption and integrate different functions in a single package. One of the fastest growing segments of the data communications industry is the consumer modem, especially the PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association). For PCMCIA card applications, the solid-state relay is the only choice for size and performance. In this paper, the design of PCMCIA modem using solid state relays are discussed.
