Zusammenfassung: | To the Editor In response to ‘acute kidney injury as a complication of venomous snakebites in the United States’ by Platts-Mills et al., the authors suggest the possibility of including acute kidney injury as a component of the snakebite severity score. Additionally, we agree that snakebite envenomation is largely based on subjective measures and that a universal, standardized method of quantifying the severity of envenomation does not exist. Because of this, and because of the retrospective nature of our study, we are unable to extract data related to outcomes adjusted for the baseline severity of snakebite envenomation. [...]regarding ‘comment on CroFab and cost-effective management of hospital admissions for snakebites’ by Mullins et al., the authors state we imply CroFab caused longer length of stay and a higher complication rate. |
