Zusammenfassung:In this paper, a new model of the critical crack size for low temperature brittle fracture of structural steel was introduced and experimentally verified. This model not only emphasizes the key role of crack size in structure failure but also reflects the ductile-brittle transition temperature effect of structural steel, i.e. the above two controlling parameters are united in this model.
