Challenges face Venezuelan ceramic industry

A review of the Venezuelan ceramics industry is presented. The current challenges faced by the industry are implementing and modernising installations, automating plants, implementing and using new technologies, inflation, and production costs. It also has to compete with other Latin American and Asian countries for a share in the US market. The industry is categorised into glass, clay products, cement, whiteware, tile production, refractories, and advanced ceramics. Ceramic engineering degree programmes at Simon Bolivar University are examined.
