Uniformly \+15\-N-labeled soybean seeds produced for use in human and animal nutritrion studies: description of a recirculating hydroponic growth system and whole plant nutrient and environmental requirements

Zusammenfassung: | Daily net influx of nitrate, potassium, calcium, chloride and phosphate, as well as total solution uptake, was measured for a crop of 60 plants. A protocol is presented which 1) maintains adequate nutrient concentrations for the crop; 2) adds nutrients and water as required with no exchange of solution; 3) minimizes the addition and use of \+15\-N. The radioisotope labelled soya protein product or harvested plant parts can be used as a tracer in human and animal nutrition studies. (Original abstract-amended) |
