Zusammenfassung: | Stoelben, Couto, and Carpes discuss the Multicenter Graduate Program in Physiological Sciences Meeting 2021 on challenges for the early-career science workforce. Academia is a highly competitive place regarding job opportunities and career development. Early career researchers who receive a Ph.D. degree often complete at least one postdoctoral training period before applying for a permanent position in universities. The Multicenter Graduate Program in Physiological Sciences was proposed in 2009 by the Brazilian Physiological Society. Since its establishment, the program has grown and spread to institutions from different regions of Brazil. It is currently formed by research units in 14 different public institutions across different regions of Brazil, with particular attention to more remote geographical areas. |
