Low cycle fatigue behavior of polycrystalline NI3Al alloys at ambient and elevated temperatures

An evaluation is conducted of the low cycle fatigue (LCF) resistance of polycrystalline Ni3Al at ambient temperature, 300 C, and 600 C, for strain rates of 0.01 and 0.0001/sec. Test results were combined with electron microscope inspection in order to evaluate microstructural changes during LCF. Cra...

Zusammenfassung:An evaluation is conducted of the low cycle fatigue (LCF) resistance of polycrystalline Ni3Al at ambient temperature, 300 C, and 600 C, for strain rates of 0.01 and 0.0001/sec. Test results were combined with electron microscope inspection in order to evaluate microstructural changes during LCF. Crack initiation is noted to result within persistent slip bands; Cr additions enhanced LCF performance. (AIAA)
