Zusammenfassung: | Results on the Ag(110) thermal behavior in the 350-700K temperature range are reported. The data were obtained by the impact-collision ion-scattering technique with neutral detection recently set up in a new apparatus for surface studies. In particular, the analysis was carried out on the focusing peak between nearest neighbors in the first atomic plane along the < 110 > and < 001 > directions to investigate the behavior of the mean square displacements of surface atoms. Up to 600K, the vibrations were found to be harmonic and a surface Debye temperature of (140plus/minus15) K was estimated. Moreover, the data were compared with available theoretical results on the anharmonic vibrations of Ag(110) and good agreement was found. |
