The performance of thick B sub 4 C coatings on graphite divertor tiles in the DIII-D tokamak
Five TS-1792 graphite tiles were coated with a thick B sub 4 C coating with thickness varying from 85 to 180 mu m. Tiles were installed in a lower divertor strike plate region in the DIII-D tokamak and exposed to plasma during 16 operation weeks of the 1993 year campaign. On all tiles the coating pr...

Zusammenfassung: | Five TS-1792 graphite tiles were coated with a thick B sub 4 C coating with thickness varying from 85 to 180 mu m. Tiles were installed in a lower divertor strike plate region in the DIII-D tokamak and exposed to plasma during 16 operation weeks of the 1993 year campaign. On all tiles the coating preserved its structure, chemical composition and properties, the continuity was not destroyed even in defect regions. Copyright (c) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
