Zusammenfassung:	This paper deals with the application of the coupled finite-infinite element discretization in an elasto-plastic analysis. The infinite elements tending to infinity both in one or two directions have been examined for the analysis of a soil-structure interaction problem. The study reveals that the infinite elements tending to infinity in both directions lead to a problem of instability.
