Zusammenfassung:Experiments on optical modes of hole-coupled resonators, with parameters relevant to free electron laser cavities, have been carried out using a cw HeNe laser, and compared to simulations using the code HOLD [1]. Excellent agreement between theory and experiment has been obtained for a Gaussian resonator. For specially chosen resonator parameters we have observed mode-degeneracy as predicted by HOLD.
