A study of NO(x) reduction by acoustic excitation in a liquid fueled burner

Rasults are presented from an effort to obtain NO(x) reduction via controlled acoustic excitation of a liquid-fueled nonpremixed flame, using changes in the speed of rotation of a rotor in the air duct to achieve a single-frequency excitation of the burner cavity. Zusammenfassung:Rasults are presented from an effort to obtain NO(x) reduction via controlled acoustic excitation of a liquid-fueled nonpremixed flame, using changes in the speed of rotation of a rotor in the air duct to achieve a single-frequency excitation of the burner cavity. For a broad range of frequencies, 100-700 Hz, overall NO(x) emissions are reduced up to 15 percent. (AIAA)
