Porous lead zirconate titanate ceramics for hydrophones

Passive sonar arrays of the last generation need a large number of hydrophones. To obtain simple and low cost devices, new active materials working in an hydrostatic mode are investigated. In this context, porous LZT ceramics whose characteristics are very promising are highlighted.
