Texture of high temperature deformed gamma - alpha sub 2 titanium aluminides
The aim of this work is the quantitative description of textures of two-phase Ti-Al alloys treated by hot deformation processes, i.e. simultaneous determination of the ODF (orientation distribution function) of both crystalline phases: gamma -TiAl (L1 sub 0 structure) and alpha sub 2 -Ti sub 3 Al (D...

Zusammenfassung: | The aim of this work is the quantitative description of textures of two-phase Ti-Al alloys treated by hot deformation processes, i.e. simultaneous determination of the ODF (orientation distribution function) of both crystalline phases: gamma -TiAl (L1 sub 0 structure) and alpha sub 2 -Ti sub 3 Al (D0 sub 19 structure). Ti-48 at.% Al and Ti-48 at.% Al-2 at.% Cr samples with an initial lamellar microstructure were hot rolled and isothermally uniaxial compressed up to epsilon =80%, respectively. Single and multi-peak pole figures (reflection overlapping) were measured by x-ray texture analysis using an energy-dispersive (electro-luminescence) detection system. The ODF calculation, following the method by Helming and Eschner (Cryst. Res. Technol., 1990, 25, K203) results in a set of texture components for the gamma and alpha sub 2 phases and makes it possible to discuss texture development depending on processing, crystallographic relationships between the phases, etc. |
