The behaviour and structure of 50 % Ti-50 % Cu amorphous alloy

Ultrafast cooling at 10 exp 5 Ks exp -1 and 1.4x10 exp 5 Pa pressure produced amorphous 50% Ti-50% Cu alloy as proven by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), electron microanalysis and diffraction and x-ray diffraction. Zusammenfassung:Ultrafast cooling at 10 exp 5 Ks exp -1 and 1.4x10 exp 5 Pa pressure produced amorphous 50% Ti-50% Cu alloy as proven by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), electron microanalysis and diffraction and x-ray diffraction. The sample was melt-spun in helium, originally at 1040 deg C. DSC proved amorphization had occurred and revealed that crystallization at a heating rate of 30 deg C/min occurred starting at 401.8 deg C and peaking at 410.4 deg C. The results prove that compositions close to the eutectic are susceptible to amorphization. Illustrations include the x-ray spectrum, electron diffraction pattern and the DSC diagram.
