Zusammenfassung: | The as-quenched microstructure of iron)aluminum)manganese)carbon alloys with high C contents was investigated. Two Fe alloys containing 9% Al and 30.5% Mn were produced. Alloy A contained 1.36% C and alloy B contained 2.02% C. After air induction melting the alloys were hot forged and cold rolled to a thickness of 2.0 mm. The sheets were solution treated and quenched. Optical micrography showed that the microstructures of both alloys was austenite plus carbides. The (Fe,Mn) sub 3 AlC sub 3 carbides were formed within the austenite matrix during quenching by spinodal decomposition. |
