Astronomy and computers - Some guesses for the next scenarios

After tracing some fundamental steps taken in the last 50 years of astronomical computing, the paper examines the ways the recent changes in informatics, telematics, and electronics will influence the astronomy scenario in the near future. Particular attention is given to the importance of developing archiving facility, with the HST experience given as an example of planning the archive pipeline. (AIAA)
