Zusammenfassung:Analysis of molten glass flow in a parison mould for shaping 0.65 l glass containers showed that the neck ring operates under the most unfavourable conditions, leading to spalling on the edge and other types of wear at the contact between ring and mould. Analysis of wear conditions and mechanisms in parts of the mould set showed that the service life can be increased by improving the stability of the system and the wear resistance of the neck rings. The latter can be increased (by a factor of 2.5) by selective deposition of coatings by electric erosion alloying, using hard VK8 alloy electrodes. The alloying regimes and the coating thickness and roughness are presented. 1 ref.
