Zusammenfassung:Envisat 1's SCARAB instrument will conduct earth radiation-budget monitoring that is essential to climate modeling efforts. The SCARAB scan cycle covers a 100-deg sector of the earth's surface over a period of 6 sec. Data-inversion algorithms will furnish instantaneous fluxes and daily and monthly mean values of earth radiation-budget components, using instantaneous filtered SCARAB radiances in conjunction with auxiliary data on cloud and aerosol properties.
