Zusammenfassung:Fracture behavior and structural transformations of alloy 7010 in Ga-In melts were studied. The liquid phase penetrates rapidly along grain boundaries of the alloy, decreasing considerably its strength and ductility. Penetration rate is very sensitive to applied or residual stresses, in particular induced by shot peening. New phases are formed at wetted grain boundaries: gallium compounds, indium and probably some others.
