Zusammenfassung:Multivariate smoothing or interpolation methods for scattered data are frequently localized by computing the value of the required function at a point from data in some small neighborhood of the point. We describe the piecewise nature of the resulting function and show how a smoothing of the usually discontinuous function can be carried out by a convolution which preserves interpolation.
