FORMATION AND CHARACTERISATION OF THE SOLID SOLUTIONS (CrxFe1-x)2O3 x = 0-1

Samples were characterised using XRD, Mossbauer, FTIR and optical spectroscopic measurements. In the whole concentration range, two phases exist: phase F, alpha-(CrxFe1-x)2O3, which is isostructural with alpha-Fe2O3, and phase C, which is closely related to Cr2O3. Phase F exists in samples heated up...

Zusammenfassung:Samples were characterised using XRD, Mossbauer, FTIR and optical spectroscopic measurements. In the whole concentration range, two phases exist: phase F, alpha-(CrxFe1-x)2O3, which is isostructural with alpha-Fe2O3, and phase C, which is closely related to Cr2O3. Phase F exists in samples heated up to 900 C, for x between 0 and 0.95. Phase C exists for x between 0.27 and 1 for samples heated up to 900 C and for x between 0.65 and 1 for samples heated up to 1200 C. Studies were made of solubility limits, electronic relaxation effects, superparamagnetic effects, and antiferromagnetic interactions. Exchange coupling was observed in some spinel compounds. 31 refs.
