Zusammenfassung:The Archean‐Proterozoic Transition Seismic Experiment of 1989 (APT89) represents one of the first of a new class of teleseismic experiments aimed at examining deep‐earth structure using portable instruments. We show in the following three articles that such arrays can be utilized to examine properties of the Earth in great detail, from the surface of the Earth to the core.
