Deconvolution and spectral clean-up of two-component mixtures by factor analysis of gas chromatographic-mass spectrometric data

Binary mixtures of closely eluting and spectroscopically similar compounds were used as an example to test the deconvolution of GC-MS data, using 2 datasets. In set 1, the components are well resolved, but in set 2, one peak is broadened so that there is complete overlap. The method is shown to work well even when there is no selectivity in the chromatographic direction. (Abstract quotes from original text)
