Examining the drying process

Drying rinse water from parts is usually the last consideration in the cleaning process. Drying may seem like a straight-forward process but it is not. Factors that affect the drying process include poor thermal conductivity of water, boundary layer effects, porous surfaces, and high surface tension. This article examine different techniques that improve the drying process including the following: thermal/vacuum drying; vacuum back out drying, perfluorinated displacement drying, and alcohol adsorption drying.
