Microstructure and magnetic properties of Cr/Fe bilayer and multilayer films on GaAs(001)

Zusammenfassung:Cr/Fe bilayer and multilayer films have been grown on GaAs(001) substrates. Using Lorentz TEM, micrometer-size 180° domains were revealed and a twist between the in-plane 〈110〉 axes of the epitaxial film and substrate has been found. The Cr/Fe bilayer film shows a strong 4-fold magnetic anisotropy. STM studies revealed that these films have a grain size of about 1000 Å.
