Zusammenfassung:Electrophoretic deposition was used to produce yttria-stabilised zirconia (YSZ)/alumina microcomposites, with 80 layers. Ethanol suspensions of YSZ or Al2O3 were deposited layer by layer, the process being characterised by the rate of deposition as a function of voltage. The prepared material had a green density of 60% of theoretical. The minimum layer thicknesses achieved were in the few micrometres range, with interfacial imperfections in the submicrometre range. 23 refs.
