Zusammenfassung:Hydroxyapatite powders for use as fillers in biodegradable implant materials were surface treated with 5 types of silane. Toxicity tests were carried out on mouse and human fibroblast cells. Tests showed the toxicity of all the silanes, the innocuity of strongly adsorbed silane molecules on hydroxyapatite surfaces and the dose-dependent toxicity of leachable silanol molecules.
