The Tensile Properties of a Thermoset Composite using Heat Cleaned Glass Fibres as Reinforcement

Composites incorporating heat cleaned glass fibres have reduced properties compared with laminates containing virgin reinforcement. Under certain conditions, this time and temperature dependent effect can be alleviated by silane coating the fibres. This work is relevant to the quality of glass fibres recycled from thermoset composites by fluidized bed combustion.
