Zusammenfassung:The mixed-mode fracture toughness of a silicon nitride ceramic was studied to evaluate the parameter C in Shetty's empirical equation. The measurement was conducted at room temperature and 800°C by the four-point bending method using the controlled surface flaw technique. The obtained Shetty's parameter C was 1.58 at room temperature and 1.35 at 800°C. These values are in good agreement with those obtained by multiaxial strength tests.
