Zusammenfassung: | The first example of high molecular weight poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) with unusually low polydispersity is reported. The polymer was realized through the unique initiating function of organo-lanthanide(III) or (II) complexes such as LnR'(C sub 5 R sub 5 ) sub 2 or Ln(C sub 5 Me sub 5 ) sub 2 . The initiator used in the polymerization was derived from [SmH(C sub 5 Me sub 5 ) sub 2 ] sub 2 and MMA. The complex has an enolate structure and exhibits high catalytic activity towards MMA. |
