Zusammenfassung:We describe a compact visible electron beam pumped laser realized by association of a cold electron source made of microtip cathodes and of a CdTe/CdMnTe graded index separate confinement heterostructure (GRINSCH) with a low threshold. We shall outline the principle of the heterostructure, and give indications on the MBE growth and on the TEM structural characterization. Lasing action is demonstrated in the red part of the visible spectrum.
