Zusammenfassung:Temp. profiles associated with passing of a self-propagating wave in combustion synthesis of ZrB sub 2 were investigated. From profile analysis, an activation energy of 144.5 plus or minus 15 kJ center dot mol- sup 1 was calculated and agreed well with the corresponding value obtained from wave velocity measurements, 148.6 plus or minus 12 kJ center dot mol- sup 1 . Thermal diffusivity decreased slightly with increasing combustion temp., with values of 2.1- 1.79 multiplied by 10- sup 3 at 2609- 2909 K.
