Zusammenfassung: | Improvement of the wear properties of engineering components can be achieved by the application of surface coatings. In this paper, properties of the stress fields induced in such composite bodies by the application of normal and frictional loading distributions under plane strain conditions are studied. Attention is concentrated on those aspects of the stress fields which control the development of surface cracks, delamination and the long term behaviour of such surfaces (shakedown). The effect of using blended coatings instead of single uniform coatings is studied. |
